Finding this roosting owl was straightforward enough but encouraging it to open its eyes was another matter. Regularly shifting my position beneath its favoured chestnut tree did the trick however as my movement aroused its curiosity. I hope to be back in spring when the owletts are "branching" ie sitting in branches close to the nest tree once they have clambered/fluttered out of the nest.
