Desert Wheatear
Abberton Reservoir, Essex
After missing out on a Desert Wheatear at Worthing the previous weekend, the news of this confiding female was very welcome and it performed brilliantly, completely ignoring the few gathered admirers. The only downside was the rather urban setting of the reserve car park but then Essex is not known for arrid semi-desert steppe habitat that this species normally favours.
