What better way to start a new years birding! The flock of 23 Waxwings were showing well in perfect light on my arrival but no sooner had I set up my camera gear when they took flight. They returned briefly after a while but only stayed a few minutes. Only after a further 3 hours did they return and this time behaved perfectly, feeding on rose hips and drinking from puddles at point blank range.
